Williams-Mystic aboard Roseway 2022: Day 2

Great Brewster Island, Boston, MA USA

Log Entry by Williams-Mystic Students

Sunday, October 2, 2022

We began the day with a normal 0700 start. Weather conditions consisted of lovely gale-force winds and rough seas, so at anchor we stayed. Some of us were lucky enough to see seals, but all of us relished in the majestic beauty of a mola-mola. How could we forget Colin’s birthday? Big Andy was quick to teach us chicken attention, it surely woke us wide awake.

Most notably, a ship adrift, coming closer and closer, meant the Coast Guard had to tow it away. As interested and engaged students, we absorbed the various knowledges, of water sampling, LAN with Captain Smith, knots and more navigation general principles. Despite the weather we remained at anchor and watched a fiery and stunning sunset.

“There once was a ship called the Roseway

Whose wind would not let her make headway

So she anchored and waited

The crew anticipated

Till a mola mola towed them away.”
