Custom Live-Aboard Programs

World Ocean School offers high-impact, live-aboard programs in Boston and St. Croix to schools from around the country who wish to offer an immersive learning experience as part of their curriculum or extra-curricular activities. While living aboard our ship, up to 18 students learn how to care for and operate our tall ship alongside our crew, build a supportive community of shipmates, and grow and expand their own life skills.

While on board, students rotate through three stations within their watch groups each day. In Active Watch, students are responsible for sail handling, steering, and maintaining the ship’s deck while underway. During Seamanship Watch, students learn technical skills taught by our crew such as navigation and knot tying. On Reading and Reflection Watch, students take time to engage with the sea and appreciate their natural surroundings.

Each day offers something different…a pod of dolphins swimming alongside the ship, a rainbow lighting up the sky, or a visit to a new island or port might be on the day’s itinerary. During a live-aboard program, your students will create memories of a lifetime in a classroom they will never forget.
