12/30/24
Written by students Jennifer, Mycal, Val, Emily, Edmund
Today we sailed and we stopped at St. Thomas! We got to go snorkeling! We saw a stingray jump–Awesome. We also saw a few sea turtles.
Yesterday however we went to Flamenco beach and we played volleyball, and we even had a chicken fight.
“My favorite part of sailing today was the huge rolling waves crashing into bubbles” – Edmund
“I’m slightly proud of climbing a loft… I just wanted to get down.” – Mycal
“My favorite part of today was not throwing up or feeling sea sick. I miss everyone at home”– Jennifer
“My favorite part of today was throwing up first thing in the morning and then feeling great the rest of the day :D However I am almost done with my books and I'm very sad about that.” – Emily
“I’m sad I lost the bar of my piercing. Dear family at home and JP, you would be proud of all I've accomplished like, swimming in deeper water than I'm used too. I climbed aloft and I liked seeing the island from a different point of view”– Val
We got started extra early this morning on our way to St. Thomas. During rotation we learned some new knots and for some of us practiced our knots. We focused a lot on working on the boat while underway. After getting here around lunch time we started a few fun activities. First we were able to snorkel. Second, we were on active watch and did boat checks. Finally, we got to climb aloft. Rumor is our activity tonight may be a movie night on the ship. It also may be Moana. We are also looking forward to the new year festivities.
Val had a wonderful nap in the sun during rest and relaxation time. We also saw a bird poop covered rock (it was HUGE and GROSS).
Last night for those who slept on deck (Not me, Jennifer, though) they star gazed and saw the big dipper. It was really cool to be on deck compared to being in our bunk since for some it is very hot. Personally for me (Jennifer) it was cool down in my bunk.
Yesterday our guitar was fixed and everyone was trying it out and I played my three chords (Emily) <3
Mycal got tangled into taking up the slop bucket from our galley. “I just wanted to wash my dish” (Mycal) – Thank you Mycal (The rest of us)
However we had so much fun writing the ship's log for tonight. We have looked forward to writing this and are thankful our family and friends have this resource and this communication from us after three very long days.
We are looking forward to continuing our sail through the Virgin Islands. We can't wait to see more islands and continue to experience new adventures. Bye-bye ;) Good night
P.S we plan on cracking opening a coconut later
