Winter Ambassador (Day 3)

Culebra, PR

No sailing today!! :D

We started today anchored off the coast of Culebra. After packing sandwiches and passing our swim tests we hiked one mile across the horn of the island to Flamenco beach (after some wrong turns), reportedly the 2nd most beautiful on earth (according to somebody). In the company of iguanas, chickens, and stray cats we enjoyed the sun and sand.

We played beach games, hiked rocks, and climbed abandoned tanks from the days of amphibious invasions. Too much time was spent attempting to open fallen coconuts, but after we (Daniel) opened it we were rewarded with sweet coconut and a greater affinity for our caveman origins. We did NOT buy food, which is against the rules. We cannot attest to the quality of their empanadas. A rainbow, hermit crabs, and a beached Aliyu were spotted.

We eventually returned home (I hiked it barefoot!! - Veda) to our great captain and engineer, who had been working hard to repair our generator. They’re halfway there. After sea showers we played chess atop the pilot house, we will never know the game's result as we were interrupted for dinner. Jake cooked a delicious meal of sausage, potatoes, and salad, along with a very odd assortment of condiments. We are looking forward to another night beneath the stars and on top of an incredibly hard deck. Goodnight!
