Today is the first full day and the more I think about it, I know it’s going to be a great opportunity. During rotations, I learned to steer the helm, and the other teens are really kind. It’s cool to learn about different people from different places. BUT I got so sick and HATED it, I’ll never take for granted my sweet sweet solid land. Also I miss my mom and my bed and getting to sleep when I want.

While it will definitely take a bit to get used to the constant movements of the boat, and the lack of leg room (though that could be because of my height), overall it’s a pretty eye-opening experience. Today was mostly travel, and we each took turns doing chores like learning how to navigate, or even steering the ship itself. Tomorrow promises dry land, specifically a picturesque beach, and that sounds like a nice change of pace from the usual.

First full day at sea was interesting. I ate breakfast, threw it up, ate like 20 saltine crackers, was fine for 2 hours, repeat with lunch. Overall it was a good day but sea sickness hasn’t been fun. I’m learning new things with larger boats that I didn’t know from working with smaller boats, and I’m excited for more learning. Feeling pretty tired from the flights still and did not get much sleep last night, but I’m probably going to sleep a ton tonight. Hopefully I’ll keep in dinner.
