Sail Portsmouth Sea Challenge 2022: Day 2

Provincetown, MA USA

Log Entry by B Watch (Siobhan, Benji, Jaye, Soul)

Sunday, July 17, 2022

We woke up at 7, already moving out of Boston, and did our morning chore which was washing and scrubbing the deck. The other watches were responsible for scrubbing the soles (the floor) in the fish where we all sleep. Afterwards we had breakfast, had a lesson on navigation, and did some stretching with the whole group. After, we went on active watch. During active watch, we drive the boat, do boat checks, and handle sails. After active watch we got strapped up into harnesses and went on the bow of the boat, just when we spotted about 7 whales! At 12 we had lunch which was chicken with rice and bread, and then we started our watch flags (a flag that represents our group). Then we had ‘nibbles and knots’ where we ate and practiced knots, like reef knot, square knot, round turn and two half hitches. By then it was time to anchor, so we brought the sails down and dropped anchor in P-town. After we jumped off the boat and swam for about an hour and dried up on the deck. We had hot dawgzs for dinner and saw a great sunset. Then we had ‘spooky night’ and played mafia until anchor watch, where we had brownies.
