After going through some restoration and repair, Denis Sullivan receives her Certificate of Inspection as a Sailing School Vessel, which means she will be able to become a “floating classroom” again. At the same time, she welcomes her first cohort of AmeriCorps volunteers on board, who will become deckhand educators for one year in St. Croix and Boston.

The Denis Sullivan and her new crew begin the transit down to St. Croix from St. Petersburg, FL where they will welcome St. Croix public school students and the St. Croix community for the first time with World Ocean School. They arrive mid-December in Christiansted to a very warm welcome.
