Summer Ambassador Program (Pre, Day 1, Day 2)

Boston, MA to Provincetown, MA

August 1st - August 3rd, 2023

Day 1: (Day before camp starts)

I am standing before the boat, and I am full of mixed emotions. I am nervous, excited, happy, sad, but I step onto the boat, knowing I will have a great time.

I am a day early, so I have a chance to explore the boat a little further. I had known some of the crew from previous experiences, but I had a chance to meet some new crew members; as well as catch up with the old ones.

This is my first sleep-away camp, so I was feeling a little homesick, and decided to go to bed early.

At 10:00pm I woke up from my sleep as another ambassador walks in. I lay there wondering who it could be.

Day 2: (Real day 1)

It is a bright new day and I cannot wait to meet everyone. I eat breakfast and head up on deck to brush my teeth. There are only three other ambassadors on the ship with me at the time. One of my fellow friends from the island of St.Croix like me, and two people I have never met from Milwaukee.

I meet all of the ambassadors who will be participating in the program, and I can’t wait to have this experience with them.

Day 3: (Real day 2)

We have finally set sail, everything is going smoothly and I cannot wait for adventures to come.

-Avery

So far, we have set sail and are heading out to Provincetown. Yesterday we couldn’t leave the dock because we didn’t have a working small boat. One of the requirements to sail is having a small boat, so we had to wait. Everything has been fun so far, especially raising sails as a team and being with my watch group. Dishes have also been fun because it’s a good time to socialize with my watch group.

At night, it was fun to be in the city and be on anchor watch. Tonight we’ll get to see the stars more clearly. Hopefully I get to go in the water today and maybe sleep on deck. I am excited for everything I’ll get to do and learn.
