A Day with Ms. Bedneau's Class from Claude O. Markoe School

Christiansted, St. Croix, USVI

Catherine

This morning the crew woke for a 7:30 turn-to. The crew mustered while hastily finishing bagels and cups of coffee. After talking about the upcoming day we got off the mooring and headed to the dock. We got to the dock in Christiansted and the crew cleaned the boat in preparation for the 5th graders who were on their way. Once the students arrived we played a few lively games of human knot led by Maddy! Then onto the boat we went. The crew and the students raised the sails all together. The energy was very high at this point...the sound of laughter and happy squeals could be heard over the crash of the ocean. The crew moved right into teaching the students about buoyancy, simple machines and sailor poetry. We headed back to the dock around noon and offloaded the happy but tired students. The crew had a delicious lunch of naan and curry made by the wonderful cook Jen.....and for dessert we had homemade key lime pie popsicles. Life is good!
