Poem and Log written by Gifft Hill Students Lily, Mackenna, and Bannon

When I go up to the

wheel and take my place,

it feels meant to be with a gentle breeze in my face.

I can look around at the water as it flows, and the sky melting all my worries away.

Changing course and adjusting the wheel feels refreshing after a long day at sea.

-Captain Lily

Yesterday we went to a beach near the island of Vieques. We spent around an hour at the beach and hiked there and back. Miss Mikayla swam to the boat from the beach(crazy)! We all took “showers” and bathed ourselves well. There were rough and choppy waves coming from the west to east. We had delicious pasta for dinner and focaccia bread. We had a swizzle that lasted until about 900pm. I had great sleep and my night watch was from 1:45-3:00am.

- Mackenna

Yesterday we went to a beach called Flamenco Beach and it was choppy. There was a tank on the beach, and the captain said he was there when it landed on the beach. Yesterday we also sailed to the island of Culebra, which is part of the Spanish Virgin Islands that means that it is part of Puerto Rico. Another thing that happened yesterday was a swizzle or a boat talent show. It was fun.
