Our Vessels

Denis Sullivan

Denis Sullivan joined the World Ocean School fleet in 2022 where she currently serves as our primary teaching vessel. She is a 137’ wooden schooner, built in Milwaukee from 1996-2000 by professional shipwrights and more than a thousand volunteers. Originally built as Wisconsin’s flagship, Denis Sullivan is named after one of the most famous Great Lakes captains.

Roseway

Roseway, our flagship, is a 137’ Grand Banks schooner built in Essex, MA in 1925.

She served as a USCG pilot boat during WWII from 1941-1945.

In 1997, Roseway was designated a National Historic Landmark.

She was donated to World Ocean School in 2002 at the founding of the organization and remained in service as an educational vessel until 2022.

Today, Roseway is docked at Mystic Seaport Museum in Mystic, CT awaiting her 100-year restoration.
