Key West, Florida

Log written by Catherine Baum (2022 AmeriCorps Deckhand Educator and Program Coordinator)
Hello all - Catherine writing here. We are approaching the Florida Keys, the engines are off and seven sails are up!! Taylor and Maddy bravely rigged the Mizzen Gaff Tops’l this morning.
I started my morning at 0345 with a cup of black tea. My watch began at 0400. We did boat checks and deck wash. I got off watch at 0800 and had eggs and potatoes for breakfast—a classic!
The new crew will learn about charts and buoyancy this afternoon. And we will all come together at 1700 for the first round of almanacs.
A great day so far on the mighty Denis Sullivan.
More soon,
Catherine
