Log Written by oncoming Deckhand Educator Maddie Carlone

Today started at 6:30am with a nice chilliness in the air warranting a welcomed sweatshirt. Breakfast was a hearty bowl of oatmeal with peanut butter and banana followed by the first muster of the day at 0800.

The day was full of learning! I rigged up the preventer to the mizzen, main, and fore, lashed down the clews of the sails to the booms, learned how to mouse shackles, down rigged the stern boat falls aloft, and measured new line for the boat falls. We finished up the day with a deck wash a little after 1600 which was followed by a lovely, and much desired, shower on shore.

Dinner was served at 1800 and consisted of mac n cheese and arugula salad. We washed the dishes and discussed favorite Christmas movies. The night was finished off with a CVS run and a call to land dwellers back home. Overall, a great day on the beloved Denis Sullivan.
