The rumors are true—we have arrived in Mobile! Around 0630 this morning we came alongside our dockage and Captain Flansburg stood down the active watch once and for all—or at least until we get underway for St. Petersburg again on Saturday.

All in all, we have traveled a total of 1269 miles since Chicago over a total of 212 hours and 32 minutes underway. We motored at an average speed of 7.5 mph during the transit.

Our last day on the river was hot and sunny. The crew continued maintenance work on the spars with a renewed intensity since we are getting closer and closer to uprig in St. Petersburg next week. Jake passed out ice cream bars to everyone working on deck—the perfect treat for a warm day. As the sun set, we went to bed knowing we’d probably wake up in Mobile.

This morning after breakfast, I gathered everyone on the monkey deck for a full-group photo. All day, crew members have been catching up on sleep, exploring Mobile, and calling their families and friends to share stories from the trip.

Thank you for following along with us on our journey. We appreciate all the messages and well-wishes you’ve shared with us on our way. Stay tuned for more updates as we continue onward to St. Pete, St. Croix, Boston, and beyond!
