Transit: One More Day…
Atlantic Ocean

The past couple of days have held some of my favorite moments of the transit thus far. On my 16:00-18:00 watch last night, we had a rather lovely all-hands muster during which we all dawned our Sunday’s best under a vibrant canopy of stars. Cap read us the start of a short story, which was punctuated by the magical sight of a rocket launch. We all watched together as it gracefully glided across the sky, leaving behind a tail that looked to me almost angelic.
We gathered together for another smartly dressed all-hands this afternoon in honor of our crossing into the tropics. We all gathered mid-ships and entered the pilot house one-by-one where Tatiana bestowed upon us very silly pineapple crowns to mark the occasion. Pork-chop, Maurice, and Marshmellow, our stuffed animals, of course, received tiny crowns. We danced to polka music, drank pina colada smoothies (thanks Andy!), and had an all-around great time.
I dare-not say anything too optimistic lest I place a curse upon us and we magically appear way back in the Bahamas, but I will say this transit has been an experience I am very thankful to have had. I have appreciated having had the opportunity to reflect on how I have grown over the past year and what a wholly different experience the southbound transit has been. The end appears to be quite near, but hey, this is still a 17-day transit to me until proven otherwise.
