Sea Challenge (Day 8)

Portsmouth, NH

July 28, 2023

Sea Challenge 2023 is wrapping up this morning after 8 days at sea! Unfortunately the Portsmouth Parade of Sail was canceled last night due to bad weather, but students did get the chance to explore another beautiful ship, Schooner Bowdoin.

The ship’s very last evening activity was “swizzle” – a talent show where both crew and students present their funniest, weirdest, and most entertaining special talents. Some play instruments, some crack jokes, and others show off their tricks.

On this last morning, students are kept busy with a field day. This includes cleaning the ship from top to bottom. Bags are packed, sheets are stripped, soles are mopped, and everything is put back in its place. Things can get pretty messy when 31 people are living together in 137 feet of space!

Stepping outside of your comfort zone is never easy, but these students lived outside their comfort zone for 8 days! World Ocean School is proud of everything that these students have accomplished. We wish them all fair winds and happy sailing!
