Since arriving in Mystic in the midst of a minor gale, our days aboard the Denis Sullivan have consisted of a fair amount of lifting, or schlepping as we like to call it. We have been carrying necessary tools and items from Roseway to the Sullivan. The walk is not actually that far, but at times it seems it with the weight of our goods. For example, we took twelve 160 pound batteries out of Roseway’s main salon and arduously maneuvered them into Sullivan’s engine room. We have also acquired a new refrigerator at the expense of the galley bulkhead. Luckily, we were able to get everything back in place unharmed. After this, we inventoried the Sullivan’s engine room, which entailed emptying it out and sorting through the various odds and ends. It made me truly realize how very little I knew about varieties of screw drivers and wrenches. Today, we began replacing every dead eye lanyard on the ship. Just today, we managed to finish the fore shrouds alone. The progress is fast and the process enjoyable. All-in-all, our time in Mystic has been a refreshing change in atmosphere, regardless of startlingly heavy batteries or bulky fridges.
