Log written by Maddie Carlone (Incoming 2023 AmeriCorps Deckhand Educator)

Dear devoted readers,

Today I was awoken at 3:50 am with the innocuous question "what's your favorite pie?" - apple of course. My 4am-8am watch continued on rather uneventful until the raffee began acting up in the last hour. After that hard fought battle was won, it was time for breakfast; baked oatmeal and lots of nuts on mine :)

In between breakfast and lunch I nap, chat, and shower (sometimes). Lunch is served promptly at 12pm and consists of gyros made by the lovely cook Jake. I read until my water quality lesson at 2pm and I had my knot tying lesson at 3:15. My next watch is at 4pm in which we will eat dinner and muster at 5pm.

Today we caught 3 fish - 2 tuna and a mahi. Much to my vegetarian dismay but to my shipmates joy and excitement - Jake will cook them up eventually.

It's Sunday which means you must wear your Sunday's Best for dinner. Which is pretty oxymoronic since most of us have had a real shower in 9 days. So far our best is definitely is indicative of that. Everyone still looks super 'fly' & Casey looks the flyest.

Sending much love, salty kisses, and a warm breeze from the Atlantic.
