This past Friday, 20 Proctor Academy students and 15 Roseway crew members safely and successfully completed our 2020 Ocean Classroom program in Charleston, SC. This year's semester-long program ran differently than usual due to the COVID pandemic and an unusual hurricane season, but students built their seamanship skills, expanded on their academics, overcame the challenges of the sea, and created a positive and supportive community of shipmates aboard Roseway. World Ocean School could not be prouder of our students and crew for their perseverance and resilience during the last nine weeks!
To our Proctors students, always remember... "Once a Roseway crew member, always a Roseway crew member."
Once a handful of maintenance projects are completed in Charleston, Roseway will get underway for St. Croix to begin our 14th winter on island. Our new cohort of AmeriCorps crew will join the ship's company (after a series of COVID tests and a quarantine period) and will soon after begin Community Days in Frederiksted to kick off our season. Our crew will continue to provide programming for students on island after the new year. We look forward to providing supplemental programming for our friends in St. Croix this winter and reconnecting with our friends on island!
