For the last week, Roseway has played host to the entire upper school of Boston Teachers Union School (BTU) in Jamaica Plain. Over the course of six days, two classes of each 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students have come aboard for a morning of sail-training and learning aboard Roseway in Boston harbor.
Students experienced everything that September can dish out: hot sun, cold rain, muggy stillness, and bitter wind. But it's all part of experiential education and these kids were up for it.
The program this fall was a pilot test with BTU, a relatively new and highly innovative school, to see if it would be a good fit for their school long-term. The results were very positive and planning is underway for more programming next year.
