Leaving the Lakes Behind

Roseway is like a horse that has seen the barn. She knows her home waters of the Atlantic ocean are only a few days away and she's making tracks to get there. Last night, the crew said goodbye to the lakes as we left Lake Ontario and entered the St. Lawrence Seaway. In just five days we covered four lakes through gale force winds, topping out at 13.6 knots on Lake Erie with a reefed mainsail. We've been flying through the locks too: on the way into lakes in June, the Welland Canal took us 18 hours to navigate while coming out it took us only 6 hours. No time to waste when winter is coming in the north.

We're due in Montreal on Saturday marking the halfway point in our homeward journey. Stay tuned!
