Another Page From Rodney's Ships Log:
This Thanksgiving, Roseway would like to send out our best wishes to the extended crew out there that make this program a great success. Our education programs continued last week working with Mercer Middle School. On Tuesday we also welcomed back some old friends from Chatham Academy. A number of students who participated in our programs last April, joined with other classmates, helped to raise sail and tour the boat.
Captain graciously allowed the crew to sleep in a little extra Thanksgiving morning. However, that did not keep our executive director and holiday cook extraordinaire Abby from firing up the stove extra early. The first pumpkin pies were pulled out before 8am. Roseway also welcomed some families aboard during our sunset sail this evening. Hopefully the sails will become a part of Savannah Thanksgiving tradition.
Tonight the crew will be welcoming visitors aboard during the Savannah Harbor Festival of Lights Boat Parade. The crew has been working to deck out Roseway with holiday lights and flair. Rookie crew members got their first taste of working aloft while helping string up the lights to the topmast, shrouds, and stays. All a glow, Roseway will act as the parade lead boat.
Once again the crew wishes everyone the best. Although many of us miss our families and friends back home, our little crew family enjoyed turkey with all the fixings here in Savannah. Please stay tuned for more updates and some new crew spotlights coming soon. Gobble gobble.
