06/25/12 - Discovery Bound Sets Sail

Discovery Bound Sets Sail

Monday's Ship's Log by Watch B (Rodney. Simone. Patrick. Sam, Lauren, Cecily, Megan, Liam, Nathan )

Yesterday was our first day. We acclimated ourselves with the boat and got to know everybody. We learned how to set sail on the Boston Harbor. At 0700 today we all woke up. A little tired but okay, despite Anchor Watch. Last night, throughout the night, we each woke up in pairs to make sure the boat was not moving and everything was running smoothly. We were up for an hour before the next people came out.

This morning, after breakfast, we had a muster and talked about community and what it means to us in the Main Salon. Then we ate lunch underneath the awning in the rain. The rain was very cold and it was windy, but now at 1924, it has cleared up and the sun is out. This afternoon we did coiling and knotting, had some free time, and did boat checks. Before dinner, we got together as a group and had a talk on ethics about an article we had read previously about ethics and morals. We had a delicious dinner of shepherds pie and salad and then we all did our chores. Now we are wrapping up for the day and getting some sleep for our anchor watches tonight.

We are anchored by George's Island with Fort Warren, we didn't move today because of the rain, hopefully tomorrow we will have more luck. Yesterday was our first day.
