Yesterday the World Ocean School hosted its annual meeting of the Board of Directors in Boston. The day began with a program on board for students in the Revere Police Activities League in which the Board members could participate and see the kids in action. For many Board members this was the first time they had the opportunity to get on board with students.
Back at the dock, Roseway's cook prepared his homemade flatbreads and the Board and crew enjoyed lunch on deck together, getting to know a bit about each other and the things that have brought us all to World Ocean School.
By mid-afternoon the Board delved into the business meeting at the Cabot Corp Headquarters in the Seaport (graciously donated by Cabot). It was a good afternoon of celebrating the successes of the last year and preparing for some of the challenges ahead.
At 5:30 the Board was back at the dock greeting guests for a "friend-raiser" sail to help spread the word about World Ocean School's work in Boston. The weather was perfect for an evening sail hosting about 40 guests, among them Massachusetts' Secretary of Education.
We are grateful for the effort that was made by our Board members to join us for an active day of work and for all that they do to support the World Ocean School and Roseway.
