After a day off from school on Monday, Ms. Edwards 6th graders and Mrs. Delauney's 5th graders from Ricardo Richards Elementary picked right back up on their learning in a different type of classroom. 45 students, in all, spent the rest of the week learning with the Roseway crew as their teachers. Students learned about buoyancy and density and then constructed their own boats to test how well they would float. Students conducted speed tests and solved complex math equations to determine how fast Roseway was sailing. Students learned about all of the simple machines found on a ship and how we use mechanical advantage and a block and tackle system to raise our sails. And most importantly, students spent the week learning together as a team and showcasing the important community values of communication, trust and respect.
