The heavens parted and the sun broke through the torrential rain this afternoon, as A-Z Academy kicked off their first day of a week-long program. Twenty-two 8th-12th graders full of energy and smiles eagerly jumped on board and hauled lines to raise the sails. As we picked up a nice gentle breeze coming out of the harbor, the students rotated through lessons in navigation, knots and coiling, lift and why boats sail.
After many days of rain, maintenance, and training, the crew was psyched to raise the sails and get the kids inspired. It's always fun to share Roseway with students--to help them see why it is we love being at sea.
We're looking forward to spending the rest of the week with these kids!
