October 31, 2017: A truly terrifying day it was aboard Roseway. With cancelled classes and a plethora of activities planned, right from the get go you knew today was going to be a good day. We kicked off the morning with a gorgeous sunrise and delicious breakfast of eggs, potatoes, and bagels. Right after, we went into a super fun watch vs. watch pumpkin carving competition. We picked up the pumpkins in Charleston and made then into pie after we carved them. Once all the pumpkins were finished, what would Halloween be without a little costume contest? Everything from monkey-masked ship captains to deckhand impersonators mustered up on the quarter deck at 1300. A runway showoff of costumes ensued with awards being given for most horrifying, most creative, most nautical, and best group. As the day drew to a close, the sun started to set and we realized that the fun had only begun. We gathered on the cabin top for some scary stories told by Matthew. Little did we know that following frightening tales, Matthew planned to stay up for all our night watches. Dressed in all black, hid in various parts of the ship wearing a horse mask scaring as many people as possible. What a day.
