Today, we learned that tying a burden knot to make fast the halyards when we set sail has lots of precision. We learned what each line on the ship does and what they are called. We made a port stop in Portland and learned how to throw heaving lines to get the docklines across. We also learned how to dance, and that Carmen hates it when people stare at her! In the afternoon, we learned bosunry skills including how to make a grommet in sail cloth. As we got off of the dock to head to an anchorage for swimming outside of the harbor, Luke drove the small boat! Overall today, we opened up to each other and set aside or differences, uniting together as one.
