Our last day aboard the schooner Roseway began with a trip to Camp Harbor View on Boston Harbor’s Long Island! There, we were kindly welcomed and invited to take part in a number of activities. These included swimming, sailing, rock climbing, field sports, and arts and crafts (and possibly a nap here and there). After a fun morning in camp with a hardy lunch, we returned to Roseway for the traditional Deckhand Olympics. This exciting event consisted of knot races, pin chases, coiling challenges, and a final jeopardy question. After a masterful rise to power on the part of A watch, we lost everything on the final jeopardy, which ended up delivering C Watch to victory. After the conclusion of this contest, we set our sails one last time for our entry into Boston Harbor. We now sit in the fo’c’sle, and in this dimly lit cabin we reflect on the conclusion of our voyage. All the laughs, the jokes, the games (close pins, kanoodling and all) make our parting bittersweet. We will miss this ship board family we have created, the delicious meals prepared daily by Caroline, the fun that has been present every day in and our life aboard the Roseway.
