"We started the day boarding the ship at the Boston docks and after boarding and meeting the crew we sailed through the harbor, passing an incoming Italian battleship, and sailing on under the planes landing at Logan to more peaceful waters out in the bay. We raised the sails and learned about the halyards and the Balentine coil, and for lunch had bean soup, rice and meatballs. After lunch we sailed the ship, working bow watch, checking the bilges, learned knots and eventually took down sail at sunset in Manchester bay, across the water from Manchester by the sea. Fireworks on the shore and music from the boats around us. We rested and wrote. For dinner we had Mac and cheese and then did our chores to care for the ship."
