Hometown: Alvin, Texas.
School: Bard College, Environmental and Urban Studies
Previous sailing experience: My first time sailing was as a summer educator/deckhand on the Hudson River Sloop Clearwater. I absolutely loved it and returned the following summer.
Previous teaching experience: I discovered experiential education in high school as a camp counselor for 6th graders. That experience with Outdoor School ignited my passion for blending science, the outdoors, and teaching. I continued on this path throughout college through leading a nature club afterschool program, organizing and teaching at Day in the Life of the Hudson River, teaching in a community outreach capacity with the Saw Kill Watershed Community and the Hudson River Eel Monitoring Program, and teaching on the Clearwater.
Hobbies: Along with anything to do with water quality and eels, I love dancing, baking cakes, birding, reading a good book, getting outside as much as possible, and hanging out at my family's hardware store.
Why I'm excited to work for WOS: I am so excited to be a member of the Roseway crew to blend my love for teaching, being on the water, and my growing love for sailing. I found my first time on a tall ship an extremely empowering experience and I am excited to share that with others through World Ocean School's programming.
