Kiera started her career in nonprofits working in Nativity Miguel schools, first as an AmeriCorps volunteer and then later as an athletic director and full time math and science teacher. After three years of classroom teaching and program management, she transitioned into the nonprofit management and development space, working as the site director for the AmeriCorps program she enrolled in after college. This is also where she was introduced to World Ocean School, as she ran the AmeriCorps program our deckhand educators enroll in each year. Fueled by a passion for both education and nonprofits, it wasn't long before she enrolled in a masters program at Northeastern University to pursue a path in nonprofit management and development. She is looking forward to finishing her studies in 2022.
In her spare time, Kiera sits on the board of directors for the Young Nonprofit Professionals Network in Boston as their Co-Director of Fundraising. She's also an avid skier, biker, and portrait painter. She is passionate about expanding and increasing access to high impact experiential learning opportunities for students and families in Boston, and she is thrilled for the opportunity to continue to live out this personal mission through her work with World Ocean School.
