Deckhand Educator / Steward

Hometown: Bethesda, MD

School: Colby College

Previous sailing experience: In 2016 I spent a semester taking part in a Sea Education Association program sailing on the tall ship Corwith Cramer in the Atlantic Ocean. Before that, I spent some time learning how to sail small boats when I was little.

Previous teaching experience: I worked at an environmental education center on Wallops Island, VA, teaching campers about the ecosystems and organisms found on the Eastern Shore of VA. I also volunteered at the National Aquariums in Baltimore and Washington D.C. as an exhibit guide.

Hobbies: I like to read, hike, play ukulele, and do anything water related, especially in the ocean.

Why I'm excited to work for World Ocean School: I found my time aboard the Corwith Cramer to be a transformative experience by providing me with a way of exploring the ocean that can be hard to find anywhere else. World Ocean School makes this opportunity more accessible while also teaching students in an incredibly unique environment. I am very excited to help others have the same extraordinary experience I had at sea.
