Summer Ambassador Program: Open Enrollment Voyage

Student Program

2019 Summer Ambassador Program

Dates: Saturday, August 10 - Friday, August 23

In Summer 2019, students ages 12-16 will set sail for two weeks with their course set for Long Island Sound—expanding their perspective of the world, immersing themselves in and contributing to different cultures, and building a community aboard the historic landmark schooner Roseway. During their expedition at sea, students will learn seamanship and navigation skills as they operate and maintain the 137-foot schooner that is their home, and will stop in ports of call to participate in community service.

TRAVEL TO AND FROM ROSEWAY

The Program will begin and end at the Moakley Federal Courthouse in the Seaport in Boston.

Travel to and from the program is not included in program costs.

RULES OF LIVING ABOARD

As a Summer Ambassador you will be expected to participate in all of the activities aboard, as well represent World Ocean School and Schooner Roseway in the communities we visit.

If you are accepted to the program, you agree to the following rules throughout the entire session, whether on land or on the vessel:

  • No drinking, smoking, or drug use: zero tolerance
  • Electronics such as iPods, computers, or anything with an on/off switch are not to be brought aboard the ship
  • Cell phones are kept in a secure space by the captain and are handed out for use only in an emergency
  • No apparel that advertises alcohol or tobacco may be worn

Cost: $3,250

Refund Policy: As payments become due and payable they are non-refundable.

  • 50% deposit due upon acceptance to program
  • Balance due: July 26th, 2019, two weeks before departure
